You may have noticed that I haven’t posted any stories on my blog lately. And, if you haven’t noticed, I guess I just outed myself!
I wish I could say I’ve been doing something spectacular like traveling through Europe, backpacking in Iceland, or even just exploring the United States. But, I haven’t. The good news is that I’ve been doing something else really exciting, something that has pulled me away from my blog.
I’ve started a novel! No, not reading a novel, mind you, writing one. And the main character—Liz—doesn’t want to step out of my brain long enough for me to write any other story, even a short one. So, I haven’t had anything to post.
However, I miss my blog, and I don’t want it to die a slow, painful death of neglect.
So, I’ve decided to transition it to something just a bit different, at least while Liz is monopolizing my time. I know some of you, those of you who have been hanging with me for the long haul, are probably thinking to yourselves, “Really? You’re changing your blog AGAIN? Didn’t you just do that a few months ago?” And the answer would be yes. Yes, I did revamp my blog just a short while ago. But you know what? That’s okay!
Change is not a failure if you use it as a learning experience. I’ve learned that while I really enjoy writing these short stories, my brain simply doesn’t have the bandwidth to do it when it’s focused on something as overwhelming as a novel.
So I asked myself, what can I do with my blog? The answer came to me today while I was riding my bike (that’s where I often come upon many of life’s answers).
I’m going to write posts that women like me—women like my main character Liz—might find valuable. Posts that focus on women and the joys and challenges we face. I can see there being posts about how it feels for our children grow up and move out of the house, posts about finding our identity after a divorce, posts about nutrition or fitness. There are so many to things to write about!
Maybe I’ll post something that speaks to you. Maybe I’ll post something that will help someone that you know. Maybe I’ll post something that makes you think I’m just off my rocker (entirely possible!). Honestly, I don’t really know, but I think it’ll be fun to find out.
So, be on the lookout for more frequent posts from me. Sign up for my newsletter if you don’t want to miss anything stunning I might have to say. And, of course, you can always follow me on Facebook as well.
